Laboratory Instrument Events

Trade shows and technical conferences bring together analytical instruments, general laboratory equipment, consumables, software, automation, service providers, and scientific methods. They can help laboratory professionals understand how an instrument category is changing, but an exhibition announcement or product demonstration is not a substitute for independent performance evidence or a laboratory-specific evaluation.

The events below are relevant to the equipment and workflows covered by Lab Instrument Index. Some are broad industry exhibitions, while others place more emphasis on scientific programs or a particular analytical technique.

KOREA LAB is a South Korean exhibition for laboratory, analytical, and biotechnology equipment. Its published scope includes general laboratory infrastructure, safety, measurement and analysis, laboratory automation, life-science equipment, and techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, and optical spectroscopy. This makes it relevant across the current HPLC, LC-MS, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer guides.

The main exhibition is held at KINTEX as part of a wider group of process, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, and packaging events. A separate KOREA LAB Autumn exhibition is held with Korea Life Science Week at COEX in Seoul. The spring and autumn events therefore provide somewhat different contexts: the KINTEX event connects laboratory equipment with a wider industrial supply chain, while the autumn event is more closely grouped with life science, pharmaceutical, and healthcare programs.

JASIS, the Japan Analytical & Scientific Instruments Show, is organized by the Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers’ Association and the Japan Scientific Instruments Association. It brings analytical and scientific instrument manufacturers together with systems, software, measurement technologies, and technical programs.

For readers following chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, or laboratory data systems, JASIS is a useful view of the Japanese instrument industry and the wider Asian market. Its scope is more directly centered on analytical and scientific instruments than a general biotechnology or laboratory-supplies exhibition.

analytica is a network of laboratory technology, analysis, and biotechnology trade fairs organized around the biennial Munich exhibition. Regional events extend the network into China, India, Vietnam, Africa, and the United States. The network format matters because schedules, exhibitors, and application priorities vary by region rather than representing one identical travelling exhibition.

Across the network, recurring subjects include analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, automation and digitalization, sample preparation, diagnostics, biotechnology, laboratory safety, and laboratory management. The Munich event provides the broad international reference point, while regional editions can be more useful for understanding local suppliers, applications, and service ecosystems.

Pittcon is a conference and exposition for analytical chemistry, applied spectroscopy, scientific instrumentation, and laboratory science. It combines an exhibition with technical presentations, short courses, workshops, and professional programs.

Its value is not limited to viewing current instruments. The technical program connects instrumentation with method development, sample preparation, data analysis, applications, and the evidence needed to use an analytical technique. The event is therefore relevant to both instrument-selection questions and the scientific context behind an instrument specification.

The Annual Conference of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry focuses on mass spectrometry and allied topics. It is a scientific conference with oral sessions, posters, short courses, and an exhibit hall rather than a broad general-laboratory trade show.

ASMS is especially relevant to LC-MS, ionization-source selection, and comparisons among triple quadrupole, QTOF, and Orbitrap analyzers. It is less useful for surveying centrifuges or routine laboratory infrastructure, but provides a deeper view of mass-spectrometry methods, applications, and instrument development.

Exhibitor lists and technical programs can reveal which instrument categories, applications, and service questions are receiving attention. Product launches and booth demonstrations, however, are selected by exhibitors and should be treated as starting points for further investigation. For an actual instrument decision, confirm the configured system, method fit, consumables, software, installation requirements, service terms, and performance evidence outside the exhibition setting.
